On Facebook

If you are on Facebook already, "friend" OPC by going to the OPC page and clicking on the "Add As Friend" link. This means you will get regular updates from the church: when a blog or sermon is posted, when there is some news to share, when an event is listed.

If you're not on Facebook but want to be, simply follow the steps at Facebook to create your account.

Facebook Events

Once you are on Facebook, Events are an easy way to share OPC news with your friends. You can do this one of several ways:

• Invite your Facebook friends to an OPC Event

Once at the Event's page, click on the "Invite People to Come" link for a particular event

In the interface window that opens, put a check next to the Facebook friends to whom you want to send an invitation

Click the "Send Invitations" link

• Invite friends who don't have Facebook through an email invitation

Once at the Event's page, click on the "Invite People to Come" link for a particular event

In the interface window that opens, put their email address(es) in the box labeled "Invite People via Email"

Click the "Send Invitations" link

• Post the Event to your Facebook Wall

Once at the event's page, click on the "Share" link

In the interface window that opens, click the "Share" button

• Invite your Facebook friends via Facebook messaging

Once at the event's page, click on the "Share" link

In the interface window that opens, click the "Send as a message instead" link

Put their name(s) in the "To" box

Click the "Send Message" button

On Twitter

If you're already on Twitter, then you can follow OPC. Our username is opcbrookhaven. You can also follow Marthame (username marthame) and Tiffany (username tiffanyrpk). You can then retweet selectively any of our tweets that you think are worthwhile to share with those who are following you on Twitter.

If you are not on Twitter but want to be, simply follow the steps to create your account at Twitter.

Twitter/Facebook Interface

Using Facebook and Twitter? Facebook has an easy way to make your tweets automatically show up as your status updates. Simply install the Twitter app for Facebook.

Don't want it to be automatic? Want to be selective about which tweets you want to post to Facebook? Then you may want to install a third-party software like Tweetdeck or Seesmic which allow you to make that decision for each tweet. You will need to fill in the settings (for Tweetdeck, click the "settings" wrench icon in the upper right and fill in the account information under "Sync" - Twitter - and "Accounts" - Facebook; for Seesmic, click the plus sign next to "Accounts" and fill in the account information for Twitter and Facebook) for each software.

Google Calendar

Our webpage calendar utilizes Google Calendars. If you already have a Google Calendars account, you can share our events with others:

• On our calendar page, find the event you want there
• Click on the event's name and then on "More Details"
• Click on "Add to My Calendar"
• Once you have done that, you should be able to invite others through the "Guests" interface on the right

On Email

If you're not already on the OPC email list, please let the Office know by emailing us (office@opcbrookhaven.org) and we can make sure you are added to the database. Because we send out an email a week to our congregational list, you may need to check your spam filters and "junk mail" folders to be sure we're not getting rerouted.

You can simply forward any information you would like to share with friends via an email.

Most email programs have a "signature" option that you can attach to any email you send (e.g. Microsoft Outlook XP, choose "Tools/Options", click the "Mail Format" tab, and click the "Signatures" button). You could choose to customize your signature so that it mentions OPC (e.g. "Ask me about OPC - www.opcbrookhaven.org").
