The music from the U2Charist is now available online here.
How Long? A reflection on the difference between hope and optimism - online
Come early to celebrate Easter in a communion service that replaces traditional hymns with U2 songs.
The idea for the U2Charist originated in several Episcopal churches and has since spread to several other denominations. The service brings together the music of U2, their theologically poetic lyrics, and an opportunity to rally around God's call to embrace the Millenium Development Goals.
These goals, supported by 192 nations, work side-by-side with U2's message of global reconciliation, justice for the poor and oppressed, and the importance of caring for your neighbor. Bono, U2's lead singer, has been a particularly vocal proponent of the Millennium Development Goals, and has been proclaimed as a global MDG ambassador.
At OPC's U2Charist, our own live band will be playing popular U2 songs throughout the liturgy. You will not want to miss this worship service!
An offering will be taken for the Presbyterian Hunger Program, which meets the Millenium Development Goals.
We are Christ's hands and feet. Together we can change the world. Together we can make a difference.
